CONNATE WATER SATURATION


SWCT. Non-destructive, in situ method for measuring Swc.

Versatile. Can be carried out on 100% oil producing wells, in cased or open hole completions.

Deep investigation. Results typically represent hundreds of barrels of pore space in the test zone.

Precise. Swc results usually measured within ±2 saturation units.

OPERATIONAL STEPS

1. Inject oil or diesel plus ester tracer into 100% oil prodcution zone.
2. Push ester farther into zone with more oil or diesel carrying a material balance tracer.
3. Shut in well for a two to ten day period.
4. Produce well and analyze returning oil for tracer content.
5. Calculate Swc from separation between reaction product alcohol tracer and remaining ester tracer.
